About Baa Baa Barrett Woolen Designs & Such
Hi, I'm Elinor Barrett, the owner of Baa Baa Barrett Woolen Designs & Such. I'm assisted by Susan Meadows, my sister, and many of our wonderful hooking friends. I live in Columbia, MO where I am the Associate Director of the Daniel Boone Regional Library. Susan has retired from the University of Missouri Department of Family and Community Medicine and lives in Boonville, MO.
The above photo was taken at our very first Baa Baa Boo!~ville 'Blood on the Rug' Halloween Hook In in 2009--that's a younger version of me as the official greeter for our hooker guests. Nine years later our little hook in has grown into a regional event (think: party!) with about 200 attendees and vendors from the surrounding seven states packed into the biggest building we can find in Boonville.
In 2018 I decided to take my business in a new direction. As I considered new names, my friend Sheila Arbogast, Prairie Road Designs, suggested "Baa Baa Barrett" because of the association with our annual hook in. And so, the adventure began.
When I was creating my new business, I discovered a painting I loved by Chris Hagan, a British artist. I was thrilled when Chris granted me a license to use his painting in my logo, and doubly so when he agreed to allow me to create a hooked rug pattern from this image. You can read more about Chris Hagan on Folksy and visit his Etsy shop. Watch for the release of the rug hooking pattern coming soon.
For me, the best part of this business is the friendships I've made through rug hooking and collaborating with friends to create new designs. There's a lot of talent out there and I love meeting each and every client. Let's get together and hook!
